Tarkanian Answers Pointed Questions For Senate Bid

U.S. Senate Candidate Danny Tarkanian
U.S. Senate Candidate Danny Tarkanian

I had the pleasure of sitting down to lunch with U.S. Senate Candidate Danny Tarkanian this past week. While Danny and I have been friends for many years, as a writer now I often have to sit down with friends and ask them tough questions. On this day, I wanted to know just a few specific things regarding his bid for the U.S. Senate.

The first question I asked of Danny was, “what would be your first priority should you be elected to the U.S. Senate to represent Nevada?”

Danny responded, “I believe that I have to go to Washington, D.C. and fight for all Nevadans. A good example of something I would have done different than my opponent, is the allocation of stimulus money. It is my opinion that we should have provided assistance to small businesses, and entrepreneurs in this state with the stimulus money. We should not be supporting pet projects in the state, that do not have an impact on jobs and businesses. The need for sustaining meaningful growth in our state, and providing jobs to our citizens is directly related to the success of businesses. We must provide tax incentives to businesses who hire people in Nevada, and government should not be in the habit of hurting businesses with unnecessary taxes and regulation.”

My next question for Danny was, “why should Nevadans get rid of Harry Reid, who has risen through the ranks and become the most powerful person in the U.S. Senate, and replace him with you?”

Danny responded, “It is my belief, along with many Nevadans that Harry Reid is out of touch with his state and its citizenry. Yes, Harry Reid has risen in power in the Democratic Party, but all he does now is represent the Democratic Party and its interests, instead of representing the needs of every-day Nevadans. Reid’s rise to power has been at the expense of Nevadans. When someone represents such far leaning positions, it is very difficult to have the best interests of all their constituents in mind. I want to go to Washington, so I can stand-up represent all Nevadans–that’s why the voters should send me to the U.S. Senate!”

I want to thank Danny again for sitting down with me to talk about this exciting and interesting campaign. I plan to reach out to the other announced candidates for this race to bring you their thoughts as well.
