Guns, Guns, and More Guns–LV Shooting Park Dedicated

Clark County dedicated its new Shooting Park today a long needed addition to the Las Vegas community! There was no shortage of dignitaries at the event today, including but not limited to U.S. Senator Harry Reid, U.S. Senator John Ensign, Governor Jim Gibbons, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, and County Commissioners Tom Collins, Susan Brager, and Rory Reid.

While I have attended a lot of these dedication ceremonies in and around Clark County, this one was particularly special for me because it brought up memories of my late Grandfather having taught me how to shoot. My Grandfather who was a former officer with the Clark County Sheriffs Department would have been very proud of this new facility.

There are so many people to thank for the opening of this world-class shooting park, but some of the folks that really helped champion this and obtain funding were Senators John Ensign, Harry Reid, and Commissioner Tom Collins. In addition, State Senator John Lee worked on legislation in Carson City to assist in making the shooting park possible. During the presentations by elected officials today, countless volunteers and committee members were also commended for their hard work on behalf of the citizens of Clark County.

Below is an excerpt from Clark County’s website that discusses some of the particulars of the new shooting park:

“The new 2,900-acre facility located in the far Northwest is the result of citizen requests for a safe public facility for gun owners to practice safe shooting. The 148-acre first phase, expected to open by December, features 24 combination trap and skeet fields with a pro shop and cafeteria; an archery range and building with a 30-seat classroom and restrooms; a public rifle and pistol range with a pro shop and convenience store; and a hunter education center with a 90-seat classroom with archery, rifle, pistol and shotgun ranges and a simulated hunting course. The site also has a shotgun center with 80 spaces for recreational vehicles that will house safety officers on-site.”

As you can see, this is going to be an incredible place for gun enthusiasts to enjoy a safe and fun place to use their weapons. The President of the National Rifle Association Wayne LaPierre was also on-hand today and spoke about what a beautiful place this shooting park was and what it means for gun owners and members of the NRA. It is widely understood that this shooting park could be another tourist attraction for Las Vegas–with everything this park is going to offer, it will in my opinion ultimately be the number one shooting park in America.
